Five Reasons to Have a Kitchen Witch

If you want to do well in the kitchen, you should learn how to cook and how to store ingredients properly. Then, if they are going bad, throw them out. However, that is not as much fun as the tradition of the kitchen witch.

A cute little witch.

There are a few different legends stating that they came from different places such as Germany or Norway. However, it is certain that they originated in Europe. These little dolls are supposed to bring good luck in the kitchen and make the entire household a welcoming place.

Here are five reasons to have a kitchen witch doll in your kitchen.

No Burnt Food

A kitchen witch is supposed to keep food from burning. This means no more burnt meals and no more burnt toast. You will be able to get to the kitchen in time to make sure your food is not burnt and if you are a bit late, the kitchen witch's magic is supposed to keep the food from getting burnt. In addition to no burnt food, everything you mix for a recipe is supposed to be perfect.

No Spoiled Food

If you have a kitchen witch, she is supposed to keep food from spoiling. This means no more spoiled milk. Food should not go bad. Also, when boiling foods, the pots should not boil over.

Cute Poetry

Kitchen witches may not come with poetry, but they can. A few examples of poetry that people have found over the years follow.

Look who's landed in your kitchen
Bringing fortune to your home
It's me the lucky kitchen witch
Your special little gnome

I'll end burnt pots
I'll keep meals hot
I'll do such magic chores
For I'm your lucky kitchen witch
Keep me safe by your kitchen door.

and

I am a kitchen witch riding my broom
Love and affection I bring to your room
Pots boiling over are a thing of the past
With my kind of magic good fortune will last!

And

Nothing spills, nothing spoils
Overcooks or over-boils
This kitchen witch upon her broom
Brings love and luck to any room!

Cute Doll

If nothing else, the kitchen witch can be a cute doll. Some are extremely cute while others are purposefully made to look ugly. However, the kitchen witch is supposed to be a good a witch. Because of this, it makes sense to have cute and pretty dolls. However, even the ones that are made to look ugly can be cute.

Conversation Starter

Whether you believe in these traditions or just like to have trinkets that go with traditions, a kitchen witch can be a good conversation starter. Many people stay in the kitchen when they visit, so a kitchen witch is a great conversation piece. It gives you the opportunity to tell your friends about the legend of the kitchen witch. It also gives you a reason to give your friends a kitchen witch of their own.

Writing a Mockumentary

\ A mockumentary is a genre of film and television that is usually a comedy, though there are also serious mockumentaries. Mockumentary is a portmanteau of the words "mockery" and "documentary." Thus, a mockumentary takes an original documentary and puts in fictional details, but makes it seem as if these details are true. Sometimes a mockumentary simply uses the video from an already produced documentary and the audio is dubbed. Other times a mockumentary either tapes in the same place or a similar type of set is made for the mockumentary as the documentary that it is mocking. There are some others that are not truly documentaries or even mocking documentaries, but are only done in the style of a documentary.

The problems that can arise with mockumentaries are that they can be very offensive with the topics chosen or the details that are put in them.

In order to write a tasteful and non-offensive documentary, it is important to take note of the subject of the documentary and the details put in it. Of course, it also depends on the audience that is going to be watching the mockumentary.

The first step in writing a mockumentary is picking a subject. This may be done by picking a documentary that is already made such as one about the pyramids of Egypt or simply picking a subject such as how to get a job working for a fast food restaurant. Added to the second part may be either coming from a different country than the one where the mockumentary is set or some type of a challenge such as poor grades or a rough childhood.

The next step in writing the mockumentary is filling in the details. This is the part that can be very difficult. If the audience does not mind blue comedy, then it can be used. However, it is generally a good idea to stay away from blue comedy. Only so many jokes about bodily functions are appropriate as well. If every scene is a joke about bodily functions, it gets old quickly and the audience will soon stop watching.

The jokes in a mockumentary should be mild so that they are funny to everybody. If the jokes are outlandish, they need to be so outlandish that people know that they are definitely jokes and that the makers of the mockumentary definitely do not believe what they are saying.

The mockumentary needs to be easy for any person to watch and find funny. If the mockumentary makes fun of serious things such as religion, miracles, and politics, people will not find it funny at all.

Other than that, it is fairly easy to write a tasteful mockumentary. Just remember to stay away from the topics of religion, miracles, and politics. Then, stay away from the blue comedy and the bodily comedy, and the mockumentary is pretty sure to be a hit.

Yellow Pig Day - July 17 - Strange Holidays

Yellow Pig Day is always on July 17. Learn the top 5 facts about Yellow Pig Day here. CONTENT:

It is not a well-known holiday, but January 17 is Yellow Pig Day. You may be asking, "What's a yellow pig?" Well, a yellow pig is a pig that is yellow and it has seventeen toes, seventeen teeth, seventeen eyelashes, and if you asked how many of anything it had, the answer would be seventeen. Do yellow pigs truly exist? No, they don't. Here are the top five facts about Yellow Pig Day.

Yellow Pig Day Was Created in the 1960s.

It is uncertain whether Yellow Pig Day was created at a school or at a bar. However, it is known that two graduate students, Michael Spivack and David C Kelly, came up with the idea while enrolled at Princeton (17).

Seventeen is Significant

Obviously, seventeen is significant since the yellow pig always has seventeen whatever limb or body part is mentioned. The reason that seventeen is so important is that Spivack and Kelly were given the instructions to list properties of the number seventeen. Being that they had to do this, they either got creative while doing this or silly while at a bar. The yellow pig became important as it was a fictional important characteristic of the number seventeen (Yellow Pig Day).

Yellow Pigs Are Prominent on July 17

Since the number seventeen was being studied, it makes sense that yellow pig day would fall on the 17th day of a month. Why the month of July was chosen is not known. All that is known is that July is the month it was assigned. Perhaps the creators were working during July. Perhaps they wanted the holiday to fall during the summer (Yellow Pig Day).

Yellow Pigs Hide in Textbooks

Mike Spivack has become a famous author of textbooks. In each textbook, he likes to hide a "yellow pig." These yellow pigs are not pictures of yellow pigs. Instead, you have to be clever to find them. In one book, either it or a part of it is dedicated to a Chinese policeman. Chinese are often known as "yellow" and policemen are often known as "pigs." Therefore, a Chinese policeman is a yellow pig (17).

Yellow Pig Day Has Carols

As silly as it might seem,Yellow Pig Day even has carols. The carols are usually parodies of well-known songs. A list of the carols can be found at Yellowpigs.net. This way, anybody that wants to celebrate Yellow Pig Day can easily celebrate by singing Yellow Pig Carols (Induction).
